RACING CARS Downtown TonightThe ‘Downtown Tonight’ tour

Gareth “Morty” Mortimer (vocals, guitars) / Ray “Alice” Ennis (guitars, banjo, vocals) / Graham Hedley Williams (guitars) / David Land (bass) / Robert James Wilding (drums, percussion)

This was the first – but not the last – time that I would see this band of Welsh rockers. They were promoting their debut album at the time with not a great deal of success although they would hit the big time early in the next year with the release of the album’s last track, ‘They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?‘ which guaranteed them one-hit-wonder status in the annals of pop history. I’ll be honest and admit that I really can’t remember anything about this gig or the band, so if you can jog my memory please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
