The Lindisfarne Story: Chapter Three’
I dragged Mrs P. along to this one because I knew that being a true-born Geordie she would enjoy it; and besides, we were both long-time fans of Lindisfarne. Billed as “Chapter Three”, we had missed the first two chapters which was a bit of a blow, because this was a great evening’s entertainment. It was mainly chat, as you would expect, interspersed with projected rare personal photographs, videos of the band in action, and short bits of acoustic playing which included snippets of “Meet Me On The Corner“, “Fog on the Tyne“, “We Can Swing Together” and “Run For Home” (that I can remember anyway). It was a truly nostalgic trip as the pair talked at length about their days in Lindisfarne, the band’s beginnings and inspirations, some of the funny tales involved, the stories behind each major composition and album, the influences on the band and the other members – Alan Hull, Si Cowe and Rod Clements – and they also discussed their time in Jack The Lad which was a bit of a bonus for me because that was another band that I had seen twice back in the 1970s. As I say, it was a very pleasant and nostalgic evening’s entertainment and I am already on the lookout for “Chapter Four”, if there is to be one.
